The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has amended the capacity for grid-connected distributed solar power projects under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model from 3,205 MW to 2,553.5 MW.

In July 2024, UPNEDA issued Request for Selection (RfS) bids to select Solar Power Generators (SPGs) for setting up 3,205 MW of grid-connected solar projects. The revised scope includes designing, engineering, supplying, constructing, testing, and commissioning grid-connected solar power plants. It also involves constructing bays and switchgear at substations and providing comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) for 25 years.

These projects, with a cumulative capacity of 2,553.5 MW, will solarize agriculture feeders at distribution substations in Uttar Pradesh under the C2 scheme of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) program. The generated power will be sold to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

UPPCL will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months from the PPA signing date.
