NHPC partners with BEML to develop solutions for hydro plants

NHPC has partnered with BEML to explore opportunities for developing desilting and dredging solutions for hydroelectric power plants.  These solutions will also help mitigate urban waterlogging during monsoons by clearing canals and culverts and support dredging operations in inland waterways, coastal areas, ponds, and lakes. NHPC concludes tranche VI auction, awarding 1,200 MW of FDRE projects

NHPC Limited has successfully concluded its tranche VI auction, awarding 1,200 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) projects integrated with energy storage systems and connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS). NHPC inks 1,280 MW renewable power sale deal with UPPCL

On 27 November 2024, NHPC signed a power sale agreement (PSA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for the supply of 1,280 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE).  The agreement, formalized in Lucknow, is part of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA) scheme. NHPC to commission Parbati-II hydroelectric project by March 2025

NHPC has announced that all four units of the Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project (800 MW) in Himachal Pradesh are expected to be operational by March 2025.  This run-of-the-river project is designed to harness the hydro potential of the lower reaches of the Parbati River. With a cost estimate of Rs 39.2 billion, it will feature four Pelton turbines, each with a 200 MW capacity, supplied by Bharat Heavy Electricals.

NHPC reports Rs 10.69 billion net profit for Q2 FY2024, down 36.86%

NHPC Limited has reported a net profit of Rs 10.69 billion for the quarter ending September 2024, marking a 36.86% decline from Rs 16.93 billion in the same quarter the previous year.  However, the company’s total income rose by 9.25% to Rs 34.02 billion during this quarter, compared to Rs 31.14 billion in the corresponding period last year.

India issues 11,098 MW in renewable energy tenders, draws $103 mn in October investments

In October, India’s renewable energy sector surged with 16 new tenders, totalling a capacity of 11,098 MW.  Auctions allocated 6,316 MW to various developers, pushing India’s total renewable capacity beyond 200 GW, including large hydro, while total electricity generation capacity reached 452.69 GW.  Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka led in renewable installations. NHDC commissions 88 MW Solar Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh

NHDC, a subsidiary of NHPC, has commissioned the full 88 MW capacity of the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant (FSPV) located in the reservoir of the Omkareshwar project in Madhya Pradesh.  This project, which went live on October 29, 2024, is expected to generate an annual capacity of 204.58 million units (MUs).
