NHPC Limited started commercial operations of 107.14 MW solar capacity on April 12, 2025, under the 1,000 MW Grid Connected Solar PV Power Project (CPSU Tranche-III) at Bikaner, Rajasthan. With this, the total commissioned capacity under the project now stands at 138.14 MW.

This capacity is part of a 300 MW solar power plant being developed by Tata Power Solar Systems Limited at Karnisar-Bhatiyan in Bikaner. The project is being executed on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

The 1,000 MW project is part of the 12,000 MW Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme Phase-II. NHPC is implementing it under Tranche-III with viability gap funding (VGF) support. The power generated will be used by Union or state governments or government entities. The tariff is capped at Rs 2.45 per kWh, and the project is being developed on a build, own and operate (BOO) model.
