SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN Limited, has started commercial operations of 78.23 MW solar capacity in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This marks the latest milestone under Phase II of the 1,000 MW grid-connected solar project being developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Tranche-III scheme.
With this addition, the total commissioned capacity now stands at 320 MW. SGEL began commercial operations for this phase on May 15, 2025.
The full 1,000 MW project is being executed by Tata Power Solar Systems Limited at a cost of Rs 54.92 billion. The project follows the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model and is scheduled for completion by September 2025.
This project is being implemented by SJVN under the CPSU Phase-II scheme, which targets 12,000 MW of solar capacity. It is supported by viability gap funding (VGF) and is being developed on a build, own and operate (BOO) basis.
The electricity generated will be supplied through a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) to three utilities: Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), Jammu and Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL), and Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL).
