The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has clarified ALMM rules for behind-the-meter solar projects used for captive consumption by government entities and public sector enterprises.
Projects commissioned before 1 June 2026 must use ALMM-listed solar PV modules, but are exempt from using ALMM-listed solar PV cells.
Projects commissioned on or after 1 June 2026 must use both ALMM-listed modules and cells.
This applies to installations under RESCO or CAPEX models. The clarification responds to queries on ALMM compliance timelines for such projects.
