MNRE mandates IEC update on wind CCDC portal

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has directed all wind turbine and component manufacturers registered on the Certification & Concurrent Due Diligence Certificate (CCDC) Wind Portal to mandatorily update their Import Export Code (IEC) details in their user profiles. The direction was issued through a circular dated June 12, 2026.

The ministry stated that the measure is intended to streamline the CCDC process for wind energy equipment. According to the circular, while some manufacturers have already updated their IEC details, a large number are yet to comply.

MNRE warned that failure to map the IEC with the user profile will result in non-generation of the CCDC certificate, which is required for certification of wind turbine models and components.

Manufacturers have been given seven days from the date of issuance of the circular to complete the update process.

In February 2026, MNRE issued a clarification regarding concessional customs duty on imported forged steel rings used in wind energy generators. The clarification followed notification issued by the Department of Revenue on February 1, 2026, which inserted a new customs tariff clause covering forged steel rings under tariff item 7326 90 99 used in the manufacture of special bearings for wind-operated electricity generators. Following the change, MNRE directed all applications for CCDC to be submitted through the designated Wind CCDC portal along with invoices and packing lists linked to the specified tariff item.
