SJVN Limited has awarded a tender for a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Panipat, Haryana, to Hardi Hydro Energy Private Limited at a tariff of Rs 1.97 lakh per MW per month. The tender was finalised two months after its issuance in December 2025. The project will be located at the 1,360 MW Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPS) premises.

Hardi Hydro Energy Private Limited emerged as the successful bidder among 11 participants. Other bidders included Vedu Infrastructure Private Limited, PNC Infratech, KPI Subsidiary Sundrop Energia, Enviro Infra, Dilip Builcon, NTPC Green, Apaarva Energy, Patel Greentech, Mohit Minerals and DB Power BESS Storage. The project will supply power at the delivery point near the 220 kV substation of the state transmission utility network under Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL).

Under the tender conditions, the developer will identify the land required for the project, while Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVNL) will facilitate land allocation on a lease or right-to-use basis. The selected bidder is required to provide 250 MW capacity with two hours of discharge capability (AC) from the BESS facility. Supply will be available at the designated delivery point during any time block of the day.

The location at the Panipat Thermal Power Station is expected to utilise existing grid infrastructure, which may reduce implementation timelines and interconnection costs. The BESS project is intended to support grid stability and manage peak demand in Haryana.
