NHPC Limited invited bids for Lot-3: Main Dam including Coffer Dam of the Dibang Multipurpose Project in December 2024. Six firms—APS Enterprises, Larsen and Toubro Limited (L&T), NCC Limited, Patel Engineering Limited (PEL), Rithwik Projects Private Limited, and Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC)—submitted bids.
The project will develop 12 units of 240 MW each (2,880 MW) on the Dibang River in the Lower Dibang Valley district, Arunachal Pradesh, at an estimated cost of Rs 318.75 billion. It includes a 278 m high concrete gravity dam, six head race tunnels of 300–600 m in length with 9 m diameter, an underground powerhouse, and six tail race tunnels of 320–470 m in length with 9 m diameter.
The main dam construction has a cost estimate of Rs 171,709.1 million.
