Author: PPD Team Date: February 17, 2026

Siemens Energy India Limited has approved an investment of about Rs 2,060 crore to set up a new power transformer manufacturing facility with an additional capacity of around 30,000 MVA. The decision was cleared by the Board of Directors at its meeting held on February 13, 2026. The expansion is aimed at meeting rising domestic and global demand linked to energy transition and electrification.

The proposed facility will add substantial manufacturing capacity. Commercial operations are expected to begin between FY 2030 and FY 2032, on a tentative basis. The company informed stock exchanges that the investment will be funded through internal accruals.

The expansion is aligned with the Government of India’s Make in India programme and responds to increasing demand for large power transformers in the domestic sector. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Guilherme Mendonca said the company remains focused on strengthening the local supply chain in line with the government’s Viksit Bharat vision.

Demand for large power transformers has increased as utilities and industrial consumers advance grid modernisation and renewable energy integration. These transformers are essential for transmission systems, supporting long-distance power transfer and grid reliability.

For the quarter ended December 31, 2025, Siemens Energy India reported revenue from operations of Rs 1,911 crore, up 26% year-on-year. Profit After Tax (PAT) rose to Rs 313 crore, marking a 34.9% increase over the corresponding period. The order backlog stood at Rs 17,599 crore as of December 31, 2025, reflecting a 37.6% increase. The quarterly results include a one-time exceptional charge of Rs 52 crore related to the implementation of new Labour Codes announced by the Government of India on November 21, 2025.
