Sembcorp Industries, through its wholly owned subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Pvt Ltd (SGIPL), has secured a 150 MW solar power project with a 300 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) under SJVN’s 1.2 GW tender for ISTS-connected renewable energy projects.
The project has been awarded via a Letter of Award from SJVN Ltd. Once commissioned, it will supply solar power and meet peak demand for four hours daily through the BESS. A 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN will be signed for the project, which is expected to begin commercial operations within 24 months of PPA execution.
The combined solar-plus-storage setup is intended to provide firm, dispatchable renewable energy, contributing to grid stability and energy reliability.
This win pushes Sembcorp’s total renewable energy portfolio in India to 6.3 GW. On a global level, including projects pending acquisition, its renewables portfolio now stands at 17.7 GW.
