Sembcorp Industries, through its subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SGIPL), has secured a 150 MW solar power project with a 300 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) from SJVN Limited.
The project will be developed on a build-own-operate basis. It is expected to start commercial operations within 24 months from the signing of a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Funding will be arranged through a mix of internal resources and debt.
Sembcorp won the project in a competitive auction conducted by SJVN, quoting a tariff of Rs 3.32 per kWh. The auction was part of SJVN’s larger tender issued in September 2024, which included 1,200 MW of solar capacity and 600 MW/2,400 MWh of BESS capacity.
This win pushes Sembcorp’s total renewable energy portfolio in India to 6.3 GW. On a global level, including projects pending acquisition, its renewables portfolio now stands at 17.7 GW.
