Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) and its subsidiary, Sustainable Energy Solution (SES), have signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ (CIP) Fengmiao I offshore wind farm, marking Taiwan’s first joint procurement of offshore wind energy by a parent company and its subsidiary.
Fengmiao I, located 35 km offshore from Taichung City, will feature 33 advanced wind turbines and is considered a benchmark in Taiwan’s offshore wind development.
The project, part of Taiwan’s Round 3 wind initiatives, is well-advanced in engineering and procurement, attracting strong domestic and international financial interest.
SES is the first retailer in Taiwan to secure a CPPA for offshore wind energy.
The collaboration integrates offshore wind energy with solar power to provide a reliable renewable energy supply, leveraging Taiwan’s geographic advantages of strong monsoon winds in winter and abundant solar radiation in summer.
Doris Hsu, Chairperson of SAS and SES, highlighted the value of combining offshore wind’s stable nighttime supply with solar energy’s daytime efficiency to meet business needs and accelerate energy transition.
