Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has secured the contract to develop the “Transmission System for supply of power to Green Hydrogen/Ammonia manufacturing potential in Kandla area of Gujarat (Phase-I: 3 GW).”
The bidding process was managed by PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), which invited proposals in October 2024. PFCCL had also incorporated Kandla GHA Transmission Limited (KGTL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV), on November 28, 2024, to carry out this project.
RIL will acquire 100 per cent equity in KGTL for Rs 200 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed by June 2025. KGTL will then operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of RIL.
The project will follow the build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model. RIL will handle all aspects, including design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning. The company will also be responsible for surveys, detailed project reporting, financing, permits, and land compensation.
Key infrastructure includes a 765/400 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) at Kandla with provisions for future expansion. A 765 kV double-circuit transmission line will connect Kandla and Halvad. Grid stability will be supported with ±400 MVAr STATCOM and switchable reactors.
