The joint venture (JV) of Rays Power Infra Private Limited and Insolation Energy Limited has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to set up a 125 MW solar power project. This project is part of the 1,000 MW Khagarijan Solar Power Project under the Mukhya Mantri Sauro Shakti Prokolpo scheme.

The scope includes design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the plant, along with civil works, up to termination at the 33 kV high tension (HT) switchgear at the 400/33 kV pooling substation. The JV will also undertake three years of operation and maintenance (O&M) and a 10-year annual maintenance contract (AMC) for critical equipment.

In May 2024, APDCL invited bids for 250 MW capacity—two Lots of 125 MW each—under Block-4 and Block-5 of the solar park in Khagarijan, Karbi Anglong district. Rays Power Infra (in JV with Insolation Energy) was awarded one Lot, and Hetvi Construction secured the other. The overall 1,000 MW project is being developed on 6,611.57 acres with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Each 125 MW Lot is planned with 181.25 MW of direct current (DC) capacity and 125 MW of alternating current (AC) capacity. Developers are expected to deliver a minimum annual energy output of 267.05 million units and maintain a performance ratio of at least 81 per cent. Project capacity is required to remain at or above 98 per cent during its operational life.

The tender requires solar modules from manufacturers with a minimum of five years of production experience and at least 1,000 MW in cumulative supply or installation. Inverters are to be sourced from producers with similar experience and a record of 1,000 MVA supply or installation.
