ReNew to set up 2,800 MW hybrid power project with BESS in Andhra Pradesh

ReNew Power Ventures Private Limited plans to develop a 2,800 MW wind-solar hybrid power project with a 2,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The foundation stone will be laid on May 16, 2025.
The project will be executed in two phases:
Phase I will include 587 MW solar, 250.8 MW wind, and a 415 MWh BESS system.
Phase II will include 1,213 MW solar, 749.2 MW wind, and a 1,585 MWh BESS system.
ReNew will also install a 100 km extra-high voltage (EHV) transmission line to evacuate power from the site.
The total project will cover 1,800 MW solar, 1,000 MW wind, and 2,000 MWh BESS capacity, with an estimated investment of Rs 220 billion.
