RECPDCL incorporates SPV for 400 kV switching station in Maharashtra
REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has incorporated Dharashiv Power Transmission Limited as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of the “Establishment of 400 kV GIS Solapur/Paranda Switching Station (Dist. – Dharashiv)” transmission project in Maharashtra.
The development was disclosed in a regulatory filing by RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited. The SPV will serve as the project company for the transmission scheme, which is being implemented through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.
Dharashiv Power Transmission Limited was incorporated on July 21, 2026, with an authorised share capital of Rs 5,00,000 and a paid-up share capital of Rs 5,00,000.
The Government of Maharashtra appointed RECPDCL as the BPC for the project through a gazette notification issued on February 27, 2026.
The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. After 35 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD), the assets will be transferred to the Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (STU) at zero cost.
The scheduled COD for the primary transmission elements is 24 months from the effective date.
Project scope
The project’s central component is the establishment of a 400 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) Solapur Switching Station in Dharashiv district. The substation will comprise eight 400 kV line bays, two 400 kV switchable line reactor bays equipped with 2×80 MVAR reactors, and one 400 kV bus reactor bay with a 125 MVAr bus reactor.
Provision has also been made for future installation of two 500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs along with associated bays.
The transmission line package includes the Loop In Loop Out (LILO) of three existing 400 kV single-circuit lines: Lamboti-Parli (Girawali), Solapur PG-Karad, and Solapur PG-Lamboti, all using High Power Conductor (HPC).
In addition, a new 400 kV double-circuit transmission line will be constructed between the proposed GIS Solapur Switching Station and the planned 765 kV GIS Pune West substation using Quad Moose conductor.
The scope of work also includes the extension of two 400 kV GIS bays, along with switchable line reactors, at the 765/400 kV GIS Pune West substation.
The Solapur/Paranda switching station is expected to become part of Maharashtra’s expanding transmission network as the state continues to add renewable energy capacity and reinforce grid connectivity.
