Rayzon, Navitas partner with Caelux for 10 GW tandem solar modules
Rayzon Solar and Navitas Solar have separately entered into five-year partnerships with U.S.-based perovskite technology company Caelux to develop and manufacture a combined 10 GW of perovskite-silicon tandem solar modules in India. Each partnership covers 5 GW of manufacturing, with commercial production targeted to begin in 2028.
The two Indian manufacturers will integrate Caelux’s perovskite-coated, energy-producing solar glass with n-type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) module technology. The resulting tandem modules are targeting efficiencies of up to 28%, compared with around 25% for conventional TOPCon modules.
Tandem technology
Conventional photovoltaic modules use a non-active front glass to protect the underlying solar cells. Caelux’s approach replaces this component with a perovskite-coated front glass that itself contributes to electricity generation.
The perovskite layer operates alongside the underlying TOPCon silicon cell, creating a tandem architecture in which both layers generate electricity. This allows the module to capture solar energy more effectively and increase power density compared with silicon-only modules.
The partnerships therefore allow Rayzon Solar and Navitas Solar to incorporate tandem technology into their existing module manufacturing platforms rather than relying solely on improvements to conventional silicon cells.
Rayzon partnership
Rayzon Solar’s agreement with Caelux covers 5 GW of hybrid tandem module production in India over five years.
The company plans to use its 11.3 GW bifacial module manufacturing platform to integrate Caelux’s perovskite-coated solar glass with its TOPCon module production. Commercial manufacturing of the tandem modules is targeted for 2028.
Rayzon Solar said the modules are expected to be eligible for India’s government-tendered utility-scale solar market, positioning the technology for deployment in large-scale domestic projects.
Navitas partnership
Navitas Solar has separately partnered with Caelux for another 5 GW of hybrid tandem module manufacturing. Commercial production under the agreement is also expected to begin in 2028.
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Surat, Gujarat, Navitas Solar manufactures mono Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC) and n-type TOPCon modules. Its current product portfolio includes modules with power ratings of up to 720 W.
Together, the Rayzon Solar and Navitas Solar agreements provide for 10 GW of perovskite-silicon tandem module manufacturing using Caelux technology in India over the five-year partnership period.
