Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has issued several key project awards recently, with the latest set totalling over Rs 17 billion. These include notable contracts awarded to KEC International, VIKRAN Engineering, CG Power, and GE Vernova.
KEC International secures Rs 11.33 billion in T&D orders
KEC International Limited has bagged fresh orders worth Rs 11.33 billion in the transmission and distribution (T&D) business. The projects include ±800 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and 765 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) packages from Powergrid. Additionally, KEC has won a 400 kV quad transmission line project from a private developer.
VIKRAN Engineering wins its first TBCB order
VIKRAN Engineering Limited has secured its first-ever order through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. The contract from Powergrid, valued at Rs 2.40 billion, involves engineering, procurement, and execution of bay extension works at the 765 kV voltage level. The win marks the company’s entry into the extra high voltage segment.
Older awards made public in May
Two earlier awards from February and March 2025 have recently been listed on Powergrid’s website.
CG Power & Industrial Solutions Limited won a contract worth Rs 1.18 billion (Rs 1,176,136,424) on February 20, 2025. The project, part of Powergrid’s bulk procurement program, includes the supply of multiple 420 kV reactors under Package 4RT-07-BULK.
GE Vernova T&D India Limited received a contract worth Rs 3.13 billion (Rs 3,131,312,000) on March 29, 2025. The work falls under Reactor Package 7RT-16 and involves the supply of thirty 110 MVAR, 765 kV single-phase reactors.
Financial results for 2024–25
For the financial year 2024–25, Powergrid posted a net profit of Rs 155.2 billion. This represents a slight decline of 0.32 per cent compared to Rs 155.7 billion recorded in the previous year. However, the company’s total income rose by 1.17 per cent to Rs 474.6 billion, up from Rs 469.1 billion in 2023–24.
