CTUIL issues draft procedure for changing declared renewable energy source

The Central Transmission Utility of India Limited released a draft procedure that defines how projects can change their declared renewable energy source after receiving grid connectivity approval. CTUIL has invited comments by 27 December 2025. The draft was published on 11 December 2025 under the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission Connectivity and General Network Access Regulations 2022. It applies to projects with or without Energy Storage Systems that want to revise their solar, wind or hybrid mix, but the change cannot increase the granted connectivity in MW. The draft sets narrow eligibility conditions and allows only one request per project. Applications will be processed through the National Single Window System. CTUIL may reject proposals due to grid margin constraints or technical issues, and there is no application fee. If cleared, the applicant must provide updated technical data within one year before commissioning and must sign a modified connectivity agreement within 30 days.

MSEDCL awards solar pump orders to Shakti Pumps, Oswal Pumps, GK Energy

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited has placed new orders for off grid solar pumps under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, which runs under the PM KUSUM B scheme. Shakti Pumps said it has received a Letter of Empanelment for 16,025 pumps in 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP ratings with a project value of Rs 407.51 crore excluding GST and Rs 443.78 crore including GST. Oswal Pumps reported an order for 13,738 pumps worth about Rs 380 crore including GST. GK Energy Limited said it has secured a Letter of Award for 13,239 DC pump systems valued at Rs 366.63 crore. All companies will install systems across Maharashtra and complete the work within 60 days of the work order or notice to proceed.

Pankaj Joshi appointed Chairperson of GERC

Former Gujarat Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi has been appointed Chairperson of the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission. The state government has also appointed Jatin Natvarlal Thakkar and Navinchandra Shah as Members following recommendations from a Selection Committee. An official notification said Joshi will assume charge on taking office. He will oversee tariff regulation and market oversight for the electricity sector in Gujarat. Joshi retired as Chief Secretary in October after serving in several senior government posts, including in the Chief Minister’s Office.

PFC forms SPV for 400/220/132 kV AIS Latur transmission project

Power Finance Corporation has created a Special Purpose Vehicle through PFC Consulting Limited to develop the 400/220/132 kV AIS Latur transmission system. In its 11 December filing, PFC said the SPV, Latur Rez Transmission Limited, will handle surveys, land acquisition and preparatory work. The SPV will be transferred to the selected bidder after international competitive bidding. PFC Consulting Limited issued the request for proposals on 4 November 2025 for a build own operate transfer project that includes a new substation at Latur with 500 MVA and 315 MVA ICTs, a 125 MVAr bus reactor and bays linked to proposed and existing 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV lines, including bays for 250 MW solar generators. All elements target commercial operation within 24 months of the effective date. The scheme aims to support 1 to 2 GW of renewable energy evacuation in Dharashiv and Latur.

Philippines reports $8.12 B in BOI approved energy projects for 2025

The Philippine Department of Energy said the Board of Investments cleared about 8.12 billion dollars in power and electricity projects from January to November 2025, which accounted for 58.74 percent of all BOI approvals. The portfolio includes nationwide generation and grid projects, with proposals covering 2.4 GW of hydropower and 3.7 GW of offshore wind. Department of Trade and Industry Secretary and Board of Investments Chair Ma. Cristina A. Roque said total approvals reached about 13.80 billion dollars during the period and noted that 78 strategic projects worth about 32.53 billion dollars have been approved under the Green Lane initiative. Green Lane certified projects are expected to generate 161,325 direct jobs, with renewable energy leading at about 23.99 billion dollars. BOI approvals from January to November are expected to create 32,864 direct jobs across airports, seaports, manufacturing, mass housing and information and communication.
