Power Grid posts Rs 3,598 crore Q1 profit; revenue rises 2.7%
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,598 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), down 0.9% from Rs 3,630 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Revenue from operations increased 2.7% year-on-year to Rs 11,497 crore from Rs 11,196 crore, supported by higher transmission income.
The company’s operating performance improved during the quarter, although revenue, profitability and operating earnings were below market expectations.
Financial performance
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 4.3% year-on-year to Rs 9,536 crore from Rs 9,147 crore. EBITDA margin expanded to 82.9% from 81.7% in the year-ago period, reflecting improved operating efficiency despite modest revenue growth.
Transmission project
Separately, PGCIL’s Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects approved an investment of Rs 856.94 crore for the “Reconductoring of Tirunelveli-Udumalpet and Pugalur-Madurai 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines with HTLS conductor” project.
The investment will be booked as additional capital expenditure. The project is scheduled to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of project allocation.
