Vikram Solar Limited has named Arun Mittal as the CEO of its wholly owned subsidiary VSL Powerhive Private Limited. The appointment strengthens the company’s entry into the energy storage market at a time when its solar manufacturing capacity has reached 9.5 GW.
VSL Powerhive has been set up to focus on battery energy storage systems as part of Vikram Solar’s plan to operate as an integrated energy transition company. Mittal brings more than three decades of experience in battery manufacturing and storage. He has held senior roles at Exide Industries and Lohum Cleantech. The company expects his leadership to support the development of storage technologies suited to India’s renewable growth.
Vikram Solar is also expanding its manufacturing base. A new module facility has been commissioned, which doubles capacity from 4.5 GW to 9.5 GW. Another 6 GW expansion is in progress and will take total module capacity to 15.5 GW. The company is also building 12 GW of solar cell capacity, which is scheduled for commissioning in FY27.
Company leadership noted that storage will play a key role in grid stability and round the clock renewable supply. The creation of VSL Powerhive positions the company to build scalable solutions aligned with national energy transition targets.
