SJVN Limited has announced the results of its standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) auction in Uttar Pradesh. The 375 MW/1,500 MWh tender has been awarded to Patel Infrastructure and Enerica Infra 3 (EnerGrid).

Patel Infrastructure secured 187.5 MW/750 MWh at a tariff of Rs 359,000 per MW per month. EnerGrid matched the capacity with a slightly higher tariff of Rs 359,999 per MW per month.

Viability gap funding of up to Rs 2.7 million per MWh or 30 per cent of the capital cost, whichever is lower, will be provided.

Each BESS project must deliver one four-hour operational cycle daily and maintain at least 95 per cent availability per month. Round-trip efficiency must be at least 85 per cent on an AC-to-AC basis.

The developers must comply with grid standards, safety norms, and use proven technologies aligned with national codes to reduce technology risks.

The systems will connect to the 400 kV/220 kV Garautha substation in Jhansi district, which is part of the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) network. Final connectivity will depend on regulatory approvals.
