GIPCL commissions 25 MW of captive solar project at Vastan lignite mine

Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) has commissioned 25 MW of a 75 MW captive solar photovoltaic (PV) power project at Vastan, Gujarat on April 24, 2025.
The full project is being developed by Madhav Infra Projects Private Limited on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis. It spans 140 hectares within the mining lease area of the Vastan Lignite Mine near the Surat Lignite Power Plant. This includes 100 hectares of reclaimed backfilled land and 40 hectares of external overburden dump area.
Once complete, the 75 MW project will supply solar power for captive use by Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC) and Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL).
