NTPC REL signs MoU with GEDA for 300 MW RE projects
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Goa Energy Development Agency to develop solar and hybrid power projects in the state. The projects are expected to have a combined capacity of at least 300 MW, with the possibility of integrating energy storage systems in future phases.
NTPC REL is a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, which leads NTPC’s renewable energy initiatives.
This move follows another recent development in the state’s power sector. The Goa electricity department signed a power purchase agreement with NTPC for sourcing electricity from the Sipat Stage-III thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh. This arrangement will allow Goa to access electricity from NTPC under its central allocation.
Goa currently has no in-state generation capacity and depends entirely on external power purchases, largely from NTPC’s central generating stations.
