NTPC has commissioned a 3.7 MW solar hydrogen project in Ladakh. The facility was inaugurated virtually by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The company has built a standalone microgrid that uses hydrogen for storage and can supply 200 kW of continuous power year-round.

The system is intended to replace diesel generator sets now used at remote army locations. NTPC has stated that the shift will reduce carbon emissions and improve reliability in the region. The company noted that one litre of diesel will no longer need to be transported to high altitude posts for every three units of electricity produced by the microgrid.

NTPC also confirmed the next step in its ongoing transfer of coal mining operations to NTPC Mining Limited. The company reported that the Kerandari Coal Mine in the North Karanpura Coalfields in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, has been transferred from NTPC to NTPC Mining Limited with effect from 1 December 2025.
