Gurdeep Singh gets six-month extension as NTPC CMD from August 1

The Ministry of Power, Government of India, has extended the tenure of Shri Gurdeep Singh as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC Limited for a further six months from August 1, 2026.

His current tenure was scheduled to conclude on July 31, 2026.

The Ministry of Power, through a letter dated July 28, 2026, conveyed that the President of India has approved the extension of Shri Gurdeep Singh’s re-employment as NTPC CMD on a contract basis.

The extension will remain effective for six months from August 1, 2026, or until a regular incumbent assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
