The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), in its latest meeting, has recommended environmental clearance (EC) for the 3×800 MW Nabinagar Coal-Based Thermal Power Project Stage II and granted Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Thiruvallur Combined Cycle Thermal Power Project. 

Nabinagar Coal-Based Thermal Power Project Stage II
Nabinagar Power Generation Company Private Limited (NPGCL), a joint venture (JV) between NTPC Limited and Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL), has proposed Stage II of the Nabinagar Thermal Project with a capacity of 3×800 MW in the Aurangabad district of Bihar. The project is expected to require an investment of Rs 299.47 billion.

Thiruvallur Combined Cycle Thermal Power Project
Chennai Power Generation Limited (CPGL) plans to develop this project in the Kattupalli and Kalanji villages, Ponneri taluk, Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu. The project will have a capacity of 900 MW (750 MW + 150 MW) and is estimated to cost Rs 77 billion. It will use Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) as fuel, which will be supplied by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) from its proposed RLNG terminal at Ennore Port.
