Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has signed a statement of intent with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to enhance the state’s power infrastructure using artificial intelligence (AI) and energy storage solutions.

The partnership will focus on digitisation, predictive analytics, and better integration of distributed renewable energy resources. It includes deploying battery energy storage systems to manage peak demand, stabilise supply, and enable dynamic load forecasting. Advanced simulation tools will be used to improve grid scalability and operational efficiency.

Lokesh Chandra, CMD of MSEDCL, said the AI-led initiative will reduce losses, strengthen the grid, promote green energy, and ensure reliable power supply to consumers. Saurabh Kumar, Vice President of GEAPP India, added that the digitisation of MSEDCL’s network could serve as a model for other utilities nationwide.
