Motivelink, DNM Autopower plan Rs 300 crore EV components plant in Tamil Nadu
Motivelink and DNM Autopower, a joint venture with Korea-based Dong Yang E&P, have exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish an advanced electric vehicle (EV) components manufacturing facility at Pillaipakkam in Kancheepuram.
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay.
The proposed facility will involve an investment of approximately Rs 300 crore and is expected to create around 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Manufacturing plan
The plant will manufacture a range of critical EV components, including coils, printed circuit boards, magnetic components, housings, transformers and filters.
The project will bring Korean EV component technology to the Sriperumbudur and Oragadam automotive corridor, adding to Tamil Nadu’s existing automobile and EV manufacturing ecosystem.
The facility is also expected to serve as an anchor for the development of a Korean EV supply chain cluster in the state and build a global export base.
As part of the project, a dedicated EV skilling academy is planned to develop local talent and support workforce requirements associated with advanced EV component manufacturing.
The investment is intended to expand advanced manufacturing capacity in Tamil Nadu, generate skilled employment and strengthen the state’s position as an automobile and EV manufacturing hub.
