ANDRITZ wins order for two Pelton runners for 1,020 MW Tala hydro plant
ANDRITZ has secured an order from Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to supply two new Pelton runners for the 1,020 MW Tala Hydroelectric Power Station in Bhutan.
As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the runners, ANDRITZ will manufacture and supply two Pelton runners, each weighing approximately 18.5 tons, from its manufacturing facility in Prithla, India.
The order adds to ANDRITZ’s presence in Bhutan’s hydropower sector and its portfolio of long-term service and modernisation projects in South Asia.
Tala project
The 1,020 MW Tala Hydroelectric Power Station is a run-of-the-river hydropower facility located on the Wangchu River in Chukha District, Bhutan.
The project features a 92-meter-tall gravity dam and an underground powerhouse. It is the largest joint bilateral project between the governments of India and Bhutan.
Owned by DGPC, the Tala plant forms part of Bhutan’s hydropower generation infrastructure. The supply of the two new Pelton runners is intended to support reliable and efficient operation of the facility.
