MNRE adds Reliance, Jupiter Solartech to ALMM-II

Author: PPD Team Date: April 15, 2026

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM-II) for solar cells, adding Reliance Industries Limited and Jupiter Solartech Private Limited, along with a capacity revision by Websol Energy System Limited.

Reliance Industries Limited has been enlisted for its Jamnagar, Gujarat facility with 1,238 MW per year of heterojunction technology (HJT) solar cells. The cells are based on a 210 mm × 105 mm format, designed without bus bars and are potential-induced degradation (PID)-free. They have an average efficiency of 25.40%, equivalent to 5.60 Wp per cell. The enlistment is valid from April 13, 2026, to April 12, 2030.

Jupiter Solartech, a subsidiary of Jupiter International Limited, has secured approximately 991 MW per year of capacity for mono passivated emitter and rear cell (Mono PERC) bifacial solar cells. These P-type cells, sized at 182.2 mm × 183.75 mm with 10 bus bars and PID-free design, deliver an average efficiency of 23.70% (7.94 W per cell). This marks Jupiter’s third ALMM-II enlistment and includes a new Unit III facility in the Solan, Himachal Pradesh industrial cluster.

Websol Energy System has revised the capacity of its West Bengal facility upward to 1,202 MW per year, from 602 MW recorded in November 2025. The facility produces mono crystalline PERC bifacial cells with an average efficiency of 23.55% (7.77 W per cell).

Following these additions and revisions, India’s total enlisted solar cell manufacturing capacity under ALMM-II has reached 30 GW. While this marks a milestone, industry concerns remain over whether the capacity will be sufficient ahead of the June deadline mandating domestically manufactured cells in modules deployed in India. Cell manufacturing continues to be more complex than module assembly, and expectations remain for a possible extension.
