Jupiter International Limited and AMPIN Energy Transition have launched their joint venture, AMPIN Solar One Private Limited, with the inauguration of an integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The plant was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The facility integrates solar cell and module production at a single location. Jupiter International Chairman and Managing Director Alok Garodia said the model is intended to strengthen domestic manufacturing through scale, process depth, and quality execution. He also acknowledged the role of AMPIN Energy Transition and the Odisha state government in enabling the project.
The development aligns with policy measures aimed at reducing India’s reliance on imported solar cells, most of which are sourced from China. Government initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive scheme and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers framework are designed to support upstream manufacturing. Domestic capacity has historically been concentrated in module assembly, with limited local cell production.
Odisha has attracted multiple solar manufacturing investments in recent years. Waaree Energies, Inox Solar, Saatvik Solar, and Icon Solar have announced or developed facilities in the state. These projects have been supported by incentives under the state’s Industrial Policy Resolution, along with access to land and port infrastructure.
The state’s logistics advantages and policy support have positioned Odisha as a key destination for solar manufacturing investments, with growing interest in integrated facilities.
