L&T Energy GreenTech Limited (LTEG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has signed a joint development agreement with Japan’s ITOCHU Corporation to develop and commercialise a 300 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) green ammonia project at Kandla, Gujarat. Under the agreement, ITOCHU plans to offtake the product for bunkering applications in Singapore.
L&T acquired land at Kandla last year for green hydrogen and ammonia projects. The partnership supports LTEG’s strategy to expand across the green energy value chain and aligns with ITOCHU’s efforts to introduce low-carbon ammonia as a marine fuel.
India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission targets at least 5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of production capacity by 2030, with projected investments of over USD 100 billion.
