Laurentis Energy Partners has partnered with ORLEN Synthos Green Energy (OSGE) to advance small modular reactor (SMR) development in Poland.
The collaboration focuses on preparing the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR), a critical document for licensing GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s BWRX-300 SMRs.
The PSAR, mandated by Poland’s National Atomic Energy Agency, will assess environmental conditions, site characteristics, and other safety factors. Laurentis staff based in Ontario, Canada, will handle its preparation.
The $40 million agreement was signed in Warsaw, Poland, and attended by key officials, including Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce.
The initiative is a milestone for SMR deployment in the EU, with OSGE CEO Rafał Kasprów stating it paves the way for further nuclear advancements across Europe.
Laurentis, with expertise in nuclear project management and licensing, joins GE Hitachi in emphasizing the importance of international collaboration for the successful deployment of SMR technology in Poland.
