Kalpa Power secures 100 MWh BESS supply from Lineage Power
Kalpa Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lineage Power Private Limited (LPPL), a subsidiary of Pace Digitek Limited, to secure 100 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity.
Under the agreement, Lineage Power will prioritise Kalpa Power for the supply of 100 MWh of BESS capacity manufactured at its facilities. The battery systems will support Kalpa Power’s WATTBANK deployments across rooftop solar, open access and hybrid renewable energy projects serving Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers.
Supply partnership
Kalpa Power stated that the arrangement is intended to provide greater certainty around battery availability as energy storage deployments increase across the renewable energy sector.
The company currently has nearly 80 MWh of BESS capacity under deployment across multiple projects. It has outlined plans to scale this to 500 MWh by 2028, while targeting an expansion of its overall renewable energy portfolio to 5 GW by 2030.
According to the company, access to dedicated battery supply is expected to support faster project execution timelines and improve predictability for customers adopting energy storage solutions.
Storage expansion
The agreement comes amid growing demand for battery storage in the C&I segment, where storage is increasingly being paired with rooftop solar, open access and hybrid renewable projects to improve reliability and optimise energy consumption.
Commenting on the development, Rounak Muthiyan, Founder and Director of Kalpa Power, said, “India’s energy transition is entering its next phase, where storage will become as important as generation. Securing 100 MWh of priority battery capacity from Lineage Power will support the company’s plans to scale WATTBANK deployments significantly as it targets deployment of 500 MWh of battery storage capacity by 2028.”
The MoU is one of three agreements signed by Lineage Power during India Energy Storage Week 2026 to expand its BESS supply partnerships. The company also entered into agreements with Onward Solar Power Private Limited and Bondada Renewable Energy Private Limited.
