Juniper Green Energy Limited has started operations of 60 MWh of its 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, marking the company’s entry into merchant energy storage operations.
The BESS project has been developed through Juniper Green Energy’s subsidiary, Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited. This is the company’s first operational merchant storage facility and is expected to support revenue streams such as peak price arbitrage, grid balancing services and participation in ancillary markets.
Separately, Juniper Green Energy has installed 400 MWh of battery storage capacity at Fatehgarh in Rajasthan. The facility is expected to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2026.
Commenting on the development, Ankush Malik, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Juniper Green Energy, said the commissioning demonstrates the company’s execution capabilities and strategic focus on energy storage opportunities. He added that battery storage is viewed as a value-enhancing asset that supports portfolio diversification and strengthens grid reliability.
In October 2025, Juniper Green Energy commissioned 64 MW of renewable energy capacity across Gujarat and Maharashtra. The firm commissioned 28 MW of wind power from its 70 MW project in Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat, through its subsidiary Juniper Green Kite Pvt Ltd. In Maharashtra, Juniper Green Spark Ten developed a 36 MWp solar component as part of a 133 MWp hybrid project in the Nanded district.
