JSW Energy signs BESPA for 500 MWh BESS project in Rajasthan

JSW Energy Limited has announced that its step-down subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Thirty Seven Limited, has signed a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. 

The agreement covers the development of a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Rajasthan.

The project will receive support through viability gap funding. The BESPA is valid for 12 years, with a contracted tariff of Rs 224,000 per MW per month.

With this project, JSW Energy’s total committed energy storage capacity has reached 29.3 GWh. This includes 2.9 GWh of BESS and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage. The company is aiming to scale its total energy storage portfolio to 40 GWh by 2030.
