Meridiam partners with HAU and EBRD to develop renewable energy in Egypt

Meridiam has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities (HAU) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to develop and invest in greenfield renewable energy projects in Egypt, focusing on wind and solar power.

The first project under this agreement is a 1.1 GW wind power plant, with ACWA Power also as a partner. The plant will be located in a desert area along the Gulf of Suez and divided into two sites of 550 MW each.

Meridiam, an independent investment benefit corporation and asset manager, specializes in the development, financing, and long-term management of sustainable public infrastructure in sustainable mobility, critical public services, and low-carbon solutions.

Voltalia signs 940 MW maintenance contract with COPEL

Voltalia has signed a five-year maintenance contract worth 940 MW with COPEL Get, a subsidiary of COPEL. The agreement covers the Brisa Potiguar, Cutia, Bento Miguel, São Bento do Norte, Jandaíra, Aventura, and Santa Rosa Mundo Novo clusters.

The contract includes preventive and corrective maintenance of collector substations, medium voltage networks, and 138 and 230 kV transmission lines. Voltalia will also manage the local operation of interconnection facilities and spare parts.

Additionally, COPEL has held a minority stake in Voltalia’s 108 MW SMG wind farm since 2015 and is a counterparty in Voltalia’s long-term power sales agreements for 270 MW from its solar plants (SSM 1 and 2).

Voltalia has been expanding its partnerships in the renewable energy sector. In November 2024, it signed an MoU with TAQA Arabia and Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity to repower the Zafarana wind farms with a 3 GW hybrid solution combining 1.1 GW of wind power and 2.1 GW of solar power.
