FREYR Battery to acquire Trina Solar’s US manufacturing assets

FREYR Battery has signed an agreement to acquire Trina Solar’s 5 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Wilmer, Texas.
The acquisition is expected to be finalised by the end of 2024.
The Wilmer plant, which began production on November 1, 2024, is slated to reach full capacity by 2025, with 30 per cent of its output already under firm contracts with US customers.
Post-acquisition, FREYR plans a multi-phase expansion to establish a vertically integrated US solar manufacturing operation, including a 5 GW solar cell plant expected to start construction in Q2 2025, with initial production targeted for late 2026.
