Enviro Infra Engineers Limited (EIEL) secured five projects worth a total of Rs 1,481 crore in March 2026, with most of the value coming from its first contracts in the battery energy storage system (BESS) segment. The company disclosed the orders on April 2, 2026.

Contracts from NTPC Limited account for Rs 1,070 crore of the total, covering engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of 930 MWh of battery storage capacity across multiple projects. These awards mark EIEL’s entry into utility-scale energy storage, a segment it entered in FY2025-26 alongside its core water and wastewater treatment business.

The projects expand EIEL’s presence into Bihar, Assam, and Telangana, where it had not previously executed work. The company did not provide a detailed project-wise breakdown in its disclosure.

EIEL has positioned its BESS entry around the gap in India’s energy storage capacity, noting that less than 1% of the required battery storage has been commissioned, leaving an estimated shortfall of about 208 GWh. With rising solar and wind capacity, storage is gaining importance for grid stability, and NTPC has been among the more active procurers in recent BESS tenders.

The company also entered the renewable energy segment in FY2025-26 through its subsidiary, EIE Renewables Private Limited, which is developing 79 MW of solar capacity under independent power producer (IPP) and commercial and industrial (C&I) models. The BESS EPC contracts add to this emerging energy portfolio.
