Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has received orders from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) and multiple contracts for grid infrastructure projects in India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Oman.
The Heavy Civil Infrastructure business of L&T will execute the mechanical package for Units 5 and 6 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu. The work involves installation of the nuclear reactor, turbine, generator, condenser, sea water systems, polar and trestle cranes, as well as related equipment. The package also covers accessories, piping, supports, structural steel, painting, anti-corrosion coating, insulation, and comprehensive testing across various buildings and structures.
The company’s Power Transmission and Distribution business has secured domestic orders to modernise distribution networks in two towns. The scope includes upgrading systems with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and smart technology, construction of distribution transformer stations, and conversion of overhead lines into underground cabling.
In the UAE, L&T will design, supply, and build two ±300 MVAr STATCOM systems for 400 kV substations. These systems will provide dynamic reactive power compensation, offering real-time voltage stabilisation through reactive power injection or absorption.
In Oman, the company will establish a 400/132 kV grid station along with a related 400 kV transmission line segment.
