Energy Vault partners with Enervest Group for 1 GWh BESS project in Australia
Energy Vault Holdings has partnered with the Enervest Group to deploy a 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Stoney Creek site in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
Enervest CEO Ross Warby highlighted the strength of the partnership, emphasizing Energy Vault’s expertise in technology and system design as key factors. He also mentioned the importance of engaging with local and indigenous communities, such as the Narrabri community, to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
The companies are currently working on development and grid application approvals to finalize the investment decision for the Stoney Creek BESS project. The system will improve renewable energy efficiency and grid stability while reducing carbon emissions in NSW.
Energy Vault will serve as the turnkey partner, handling engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for the project. They will also provide long-term software support, maintenance, and operational services. The BESS will be built using Energy Vault’s X-Vault integration platform and B-VAULT product, certified by UL9540 and AS3000 standards, and managed by the Vault-OS Energy Management System. The architecture offers flexibility in selecting battery and inverter suppliers, accommodating both AC-coupled and DC-coupled configurations for versatile deployment.
This partnership expands Energy Vault’s presence in the Australian market, following 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of projects in NSW slated for delivery in 2025. Energy Vault’s Board chairman and CEO Robert Piconi expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting the shared focus on large-scale, financially attractive projects aimed at enhancing grid resilience.
In May 2024, Energy Vault also secured contracts from ACEN Australia to install two large-scale BESS facilities, further strengthening its position in the Australian energy storage market.
