Energy In Motion to deploy 500 electric trucks on key freight routes
Energy In Motion Limited (EIM Ltd) has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with Oil Field Warehouse & Services Limited (OWS Ltd) and Radiance Green Mobility Private Limited to deploy 500 electric heavy commercial vehicles (e-HCVs) across key high-density freight corridors in India.
The proposed deployment will cover the Mumbai-Pune, Mundra-Morbi-Ahmedabad, and Mumbai-Delhi corridors, which are among the country’s most cargo-intensive freight routes. The initial deployment will comprise 50 vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune corridor in October 2026, with the fleet to be scaled up as EIM Ltd completes its battery swapping network across the identified corridors.
Under the partnership, EIM Ltd will leverage its integrated electric mobility ecosystem, which comprises electric vehicles, battery swapping, charging, and energy infrastructure. OWS Ltd and Radiance Green Mobility Private Limited will contribute their respective expertise in commercial fleet deployment and operations.
EIM Ltd’s flagship Ashwa 55-ton electric tractor has been designed for high-utilisation freight operations and is supported by a battery-swapping ecosystem intended to enable rapid turnaround. The company has also homologated a 350-kWh battery version of its Ashwa electric tractor.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Narendra Murkumbi, Managing Director of EIM Ltd, said the collaboration would deliver heavy electric freight movement at a cost significantly below diesel transport costs, while providing sustainability benefits and reducing dependence on imported oil.
Mr. Pankaj Surani, Managing Director of OWS Ltd, said the partnership aims to develop the first dedicated electrified freight corridors that are efficient, cost-competitive, and sustainable.
Mr. Vineet Sharma, Director & CFO of OWS Ltd, said electrification of the fleet would enable a more predictable cost structure and allow long-term contracting with customers.
Mr. Vitthal Wable, Director of Radiance Green Mobility Pvt Ltd, said the company aims to accelerate sustainable logistics at scale, building on the proven internal combustion engine (ICE) fleet expertise of its parent company, Jyothi Transport & Freight Services.
The partnership will initially focus on deploying 50 e-HCVs on the Mumbai-Pune corridor in October 2026 before scaling the deployment across the identified freight corridors as EIM Ltd’s battery swapping network is completed.
