Enefit Green and Sumitomo Corporation have signed an agreement to jointly develop the Liivi Bay offshore wind farm in the Gulf of Riga, Baltic Sea. As part of the deal, Enefit Green will sell a 50% stake in Liivi Offshore OÜ, the project company for the wind farm, to Sumitomo Corporation.
The wind farm is planned to have up to 84 turbines with a total capacity of 1,000 MW and an estimated annual electricity generation of up to 4 terawatt-hours (TWh). The project is expected to participate in an upcoming auction by the Estonian government to attract international lenders and suppliers. Construction is anticipated to be completed by 2032.
Both companies have been expanding their wind energy portfolios. In August 2024, Sumitomo Corporation partnered with JGC Japan Corporation for the design, manufacturing, and supply of floating structural components for offshore wind power. In April 2024, Enefit Green’s subsidiary Enefit Green sp. z o.o. signed a development agreement with Polish RES Global Investment sp. z o.o. for early-stage onshore wind projects in Poland.
