Diamond Power bags Rs 435 crore cable order for Hyderabad data centres
Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DICABS) has secured a supply order worth Rs 435.71 crore, excluding GST, from a consortium comprising Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Sterling and Wilson, and Blue Star. The order covers the supply of High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) power cables for the 310 MW HYD22 to HYD26 data centre projects in Hyderabad, with deliveries scheduled between August 2026 and March 2027.
Order details
The contract, awarded in the ordinary course of business, is valued at Rs 435.71 crore, exclusive of GST, and includes packing, forwarding, freight, and transit insurance.
The scope includes the supply of approximately 21.35 lakh metres of power cables, comprising 1,89,404 metres of HT cable and 19,45,920 metres of LT cable. Deliveries will commence from the first week of August 2026 and are scheduled for completion by March 2027.
The contract follows the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) PV formula on a variable price basis, with April 2026 indices as the base. According to the company, the transaction is at arm’s length and does not involve any related-party transactions.
Data centre expansion driving cable demand
The order is linked to the expansion of India’s data centre sector, where demand for power infrastructure is increasing alongside new capacity additions. India’s installed data centre capacity reached roughly 1,700 MW in 2025 and is projected to increase to 4-5 GW by 2030 under the base-case scenario, with estimates of 8-9 GW or more under an AI-driven growth scenario.
Hyderabad, along with Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi NCR, is among the fastest-growing data centre markets. The 310 MW HYD22 to HYD26 projects represent a significant addition to this capacity.
Each data centre requires extensive electrical infrastructure, including incoming HT feeders, transformer and switchgear connections, and LT distribution networks supplying power to UPS systems, Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and rack-level IT equipment.
Industry estimates place the wires and cables opportunity from India’s data centre EPC pipeline at approximately Rs 4,600 crore during FY25-FY30, within a total EPC opportunity of about Rs 46,400 crore.
Focus on specialised cable products
Data centres require cables designed for continuous operation and high reliability. These include Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) and Flame Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS) cables, fire-survival cables, HT and EHV cables, and high-current LT cables for large power loads.
According to the company, its product portfolio includes LV, MV, HV and EHV cables, fire-resistant cables, and specialised cables for renewable energy and EV charging applications.
Company statement
Commenting on the order, Umesh Chayya, Sr. Vice President – Sales & Marketing at DICABS, said, “Data centers are emerging as one of the most significant demand drivers for the Indian cable industry.”
