The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has signed coal gasification plant development and production agreements (CGPDPA) with three entities under Category II of the coal gasification financial incentive scheme.
The selected companies are Jindal Steel and Power Limited, New Era Cleantech Solution Private Limited, and Greta Energy and Metal Private Limited.
Launched on January 24, 2024, the scheme has a total outlay of Rs 85 billion. It aims to facilitate 100 million tonnes of coal gasification by 2030, promoting the use of domestic coal for cleaner industrial applications.
The initiative supports India’s clean coal transition strategy. It encourages public and private sector investment in coal gasification projects to reduce environmental impact, improve energy security, and support industrial growth through new technology and infrastructure.
