The Central government inaugurated the 975 MW/1,300 MWp Rajasthan Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Project (Tranche IV) in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on April 17, 2025.
The project has been developed by ReNew and is spread across multiple villages in Pokran and Bhaniyana tehsils.
The project was awarded under SECI’s Tranche IV auction held in March 2021. ReNew Power won 600 MW capacity, while ACME Solar Holdings Limited secured 375 MW. Both bids were at a tariff of Rs 2.18 per kWh. ReNew later acquired beneficial interest in the capacity initially awarded to ACME.
The project has been developed on 3,500 acres of land across villages including Rampuriya, Bhinajpura, Hastinapur, and Masuriya. It is based on the build, own and operate (BOO) model. Two ReNew subsidiaries executed the development—ReNew Hans Urja Private Limited for 600 MW and ReNew Solar Photovoltaic Private Limited for 375 MW.
The entire 975 MW capacity will supply power to SECI under a 25-year power purchase agreement. SECI will further sell the power to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) under a power sale agreement.
