Bajel Projects signs Egypt contract for 500 kV transmission lines
Bajel Projects Limited has signed an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two sections of a 500 kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) in Egypt, marking a significant addition to the company’s international transmission portfolio.
The project covers Lot 1 and Lot 5 of a national grid reinforcement programme aimed at strengthening Egypt’s high-voltage transmission network and supporting the country’s growing electricity demand from economic and industrial activity.
Agreement signed
The agreement was signed in Cairo by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bajel Projects Limited, in the presence of Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and senior officials from both countries.
Bajel Projects had earlier disclosed the order win on April 29, 2026. The latest announcement pertains to the formal execution of the contract with EETC.
The company classified the order under its ultra-mega category, indicating a value of more than Rs 400 crore.
Project details
The contract involves the construction of two contiguous sections of a 500 kV transmission corridor, which forms part of Egypt’s broader efforts to reinforce its national transmission infrastructure.
According to the company, the transmission lines are intended to improve power evacuation capability and enhance the reliability of the country’s high-voltage network as electricity demand continues to increase.
International presence
The Egypt project adds to Bajel Projects’ expanding footprint in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The company currently operates a 50:50 joint venture with Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and has recently established a subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, under the name Bajel T&D Projects and Contracting.
Bajel Projects, a power transmission engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company of the Bajaj Group, stated that the contract further strengthens its presence in international transmission markets.
