Arctech, a solar equipment manufacturer, has secured a deal to supply 1.5GW of its SkyLine II single-axis solar tracking system to PowerChina for the Al Ajban solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the UAE.
Located in Abu Dhabi’s Ajban area, Al Ajban will be one of the largest single-site solar plants globally, generating enough green electricity to power 160,000 households and reducing carbon emissions by 2.4 million tonnes annually.
The project, alongside Noor Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra solar plants, will contribute to raising Abu Dhabi’s solar power capacity to 4GW, cutting carbon emissions by six million metric tonnes per year.
Arctech has been expanding its Middle East operations, with a service centre, R&D centre, and manufacturing base to enhance its delivery capacity to 15GW by 2025.
