AM Green signs MoU with Port of Rotterdam to build green fuel corridor

Author: PPD Team Date: May 29, 2025

AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe via Rotterdam.

The partnership will support trade in hydrogen-based fuels, including bunkering fuels and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and develop necessary terminal infrastructure along the route.

Rotterdam is a strategic choice for this partnership. As Europe’s largest seaport, it offers established energy infrastructure and access to key industrial hubs in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The port is central to the EU’s hydrogen strategy and is rapidly evolving into a major hub for green fuel imports. It also benefits from strong regulatory support and excellent connectivity via pipelines, waterways, and rail.

The collaboration will enable the distribution of hydrogen-derived fuels and link India’s Net Zero Industrial Clusters with European markets. Exports of up to 1 million tonnes of green fuels annually are targeted, potentially enabling trade worth up to $1 billion between India and Europe.
